ABOUT EPILEPSY
Temporal Lobe or Complex Partial Seizures
This seizure occurs when there is a sudden increase in electrical activity in the part of the brain located behind the temples. The attacks involve a wide range of confused, repetitive and inappropriate behaviour. The person is usually unaware of his/her surroundings or of what he is doing.
Odd involuntary activities such as smacking the lips, chewing, pulling at clothing, running in circles, accompanied by a vacant look and inability to respond to directions. All these are common signs of this type of seizure.
First Aid for Temporal Lobe Seizures
Theses seizures should be managed by staying with the person and gently moving him/her from danger. Do not try to hold the person or try to stop the involuntary activities, as this may provoke an aggresive reaction.
